10 FASHION MISTAKES WOMEN MAKE.

1.) WEARING THE WRONG SIZE CLOTHES.
There are 2 sizes to this coin, wearing clothes that are too big or too small and both are equally unappealing.  If you’re not sure if something doesn’t fit right send a screenshot to a trusted friend or show it to your tailor and get an honest opinion.  The most important thing when buying clothes is buying ones that fit you properly.  If they fit you correctly then you will look your best and you will actually want to wear your clothes because you will AMAZING in them!

2.) NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO DETAILS.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when women wear open-toe shoes and they have chipped toenail polish or if their nails are painted and chipped a ton.  I know we’ve all done this on occasion including myself, but please don’t make a habit of it!  If you don’t have time to get a pedicure and your toe nail polish is chipped just wear closed-toe shoes.  Also, pay attention to your shoes, if they look old and scuffed it’s either time to get them fixed or give them away.

3.) NOT CONSIDERING THE EVENT.
You need to get dressed for where you’re going because that is one of the most important factors that play in when you’re deciding what to wear.  Are you going to a job interview, a wedding, a casual football, or a black-tie event, wherever it is, dress accordingly!  If you’re not sure what to wear certain events, message the host or send me an email – I have clients and readers email me all the time regarding what to wear to certain events.

4.)WEARING WRINKLED CLOTHES.
There is no reason to wear wrinkled clothes, ever!  Especially when Jiffy makes the best steamer around and it takes under 10 minutes to steam a piece of clothing.  I’ve had mine for years and it’s literally a lifesaver!  If you don’t have one of these Jiffy steamers I highly recommend getting one, trust me, it will make your life so much easier!

5.) WEARING LEGGINGS AS PANTS.
Please don’t hate me for saying this, lol!  But seriously, don’t wear leggings as pants because they’re not.  They’re meant to be worn to work out in and lounge around the house in and that’s basically it.  If you love to wear black leggings because they’re black and they go with everything then get some black jeans that are comfortable and wear those instead.  I love the ones I’m wearing in today’s post.  They’re high-waisted with an ankle-length and they’re super comfortable!

6.) WEARING CLOTHES THAT LOOK OLD.
If you have pants or shirts with stains on them you can’t get out, toss them, it’s that simple.  If you have sweaters that have those balls on them use a razor blade to get them off.  Wearing clothes that look old and worn just doesn’t look polished and chic so don’t do it, you’re way too beautiful for that!

7.) NOT UTILIZING YOUR TAILOR.
This mistake goes back to the number 1 mistake which is not wearing clothes that fit properly.  I take 60% of my clothes to the tailor so that they fit me the proper way and because of this I will look like the best version of myself when I wear these clothes and so will you if you take the time to utilize your tailor!  If you don’t have a good one and you live in Dallas, I highly recommend J’s tailor on Sherry Lane.

8.) NOT SPENDING ENOUGH ON THE BASICS.
A wardrobe made up of high-quality basics is a functional wardrobe and it will make getting dressed every day so much easier for you!  If you’re not sure if you have the basics check out this post.

I’m working on a fall capsule checklist which will be filled with quality basics so stay tuned for that.

9.) SHOWING TOO MUCH SKIN.
I don’t care if you’re 25 and have a rockin body, don’t show too much skin when you’re putting your looks together.  I recommend going by the ‘RULE OF ONE’ meaning pick one spot on your body to show some skin and then cover up the rest.  This way you will achieve tastefully sexy like no other!

10.) IMPULSE BUYING.
Not planning out your wardrobe before each season results in impulse buying.  Impulse buying is a waste of time and money so don’t do it!  To ensure you plan for your wardrobe correctly be sure and subscribe to my blog so you will get a complete wardrobe checklist I put out at the beginning of each season.  My fall checklist is coming out soon so stay tuned for that!
